Do I need specific training to use the Quantum range equipment?

Updated 04 nov 2026

Training for using Quantum equipment

The Quantum range equipment —Q3A, Q5A and Q9A— has been designed for agile and intuitive start-up. Thanks to its HMI touch screen and simplified architecture (single-phase 230 V connection, no hydraulic installation), any technician with basic experience in metal fabrication can become familiar with the equipment in a very short time.

Is training required to operate the machine?

No specific training on the equipment itself is required. The HMI interface guides the operator through parameter configuration, and the compact and sealed architecture (IP55) eliminates complexities such as managing hydraulic circuits or external chillers.

What does require training?

There are two areas where training is highly recommended before starting work:

  • Laser welding technique: Mastering correct bead execution, filler wire management, speed, power and oscillation parameters according to material and thickness is essential for achieving quality results. Materials such as copper (capacity up to 0.5 mm on Q3A, up to 2 mm on Q9A) or aluminum present specific behaviors that the operator must understand.
  • Laser safety: Fiber laser welding operates at a wavelength of 1080 nm, invisible to the human eye and potentially dangerous without appropriate protective equipment (certified PPE, laser safety glasses, safety cabins or screens). It is essential that the operator as well as the company know and apply current regulations on safety materials with Class 4 laser equipment.

QOVOLT Recommendation

Before starting production, ensure that the personnel involved have received training in: 1. Fundamentals of laser welding and parameters by material. 2. Safety regulations applicable to industrial laser equipment. 3. Correct use of PPE specific to fiber laser.
