What is the TURBO mode of the Quantum Q9A for?

TURBO Mode in the Quantum Q9A: maximum penetration when you need it most

TURBO mode is an exclusive feature of the Quantum Q9A (2200 W), the flagship model of QOVOLT's Quantum Air Laser range. It is a proprietary development that extends the equipment's penetration capabilities beyond the standard range, especially in carbon steel.

What does TURBO mode offer?

Activated together with maximum power of 2200 W, TURBO mode enables penetration of up to 7–9 mm in carbon steel, compared to the 6 mm available in standard mode for stainless steel or galvanized sheet. This makes the Q9A the only equipment in the Quantum range capable of handling thicknesses that traditionally required water-cooled equipment or higher-consumption sources.

In which materials is it most relevant?

The benefit is especially significant in:

  • Thick carbon steel (up to 9 mm)
  • Structural or heavy fabrication applications where complete penetration is critical

For other materials such as aluminium, brass or copper, the Q9A's standard mode capabilities already cover typical workshop ranges.

A thermal engineering milestone

What is remarkable about TURBO mode is that this performance is achieved while maintaining the air-cooled architecture (IP55), without the need for external chiller or hydraulic installation. The equipment continues to operate with 230 V single-phase and maintains the same 100 % duty cycle at 40 °C that characterizes the entire Quantum range.

When to activate it?

TURBO mode is designed for passes that require complete penetration at maximum thicknesses. For lighter work or heat-sensitive materials, Continuous, Pulsed or Galvo modes offer greater control over heat input.

In summary, TURBO mode positions the Quantum Q9A as a high-performance industrial solution without compromising the installation simplicity that defines the entire Quantum Air Laser range.
