What safety measures should I adopt when working with a Quantum laser welding machine?

Updated 04 nov 2026

Safety in industrial laser welding equipment operation

Laser welding is a high-performance technology that, like any industrial equipment in this category, requires an adequate work environment, specific training, and strict compliance with current regulations in each country. Working responsibly ensures both operator safety and equipment lifespan.

Certification and regulatory compliance

All equipment in the Quantum A range has been certified under CE standards in their most demanding version, backed by SGS, one of the most recognized certification bodies internationally. This certification confirms that the equipment meets the safety, health, and environmental protection requirements mandated in the European Union.

Mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Before operating any Quantum equipment, the operator must have:

  • Laser safety glasses approved for 1080 nm wavelength
  • Heat-resistant gloves protected against metallic splatter
  • Fire-resistant work clothing, without synthetic materials that may melt
  • Respiratory protection suitable for metal fumes and vapors generated during the process

Workspace adequacy

  • Establish a restricted access zone during operation, properly marked with laser hazard symbols
  • Ensure effective ventilation or localized fume extraction system
  • Avoid reflective surfaces in the immediate work area
  • Keep the area free of flammable materials
  • Ensure that only trained and authorized personnel operate or access the equipment during operation

Operator and installation supervisor responsibility

It is mandatory for the shop manager to know and apply current laser safety regulations in their country (in Spain, the applicable Royal Decree on workplace safety and corresponding European directives). QOVOLT provides all necessary technical documentation to facilitate this compliance.

Correct equipment use, combined with appropriate protective measures, makes the Quantum range a safe and highly productive tool for the industrial environment.
